The 2022 Maccabiah Games in Israel were a whirlwind of emotions, adrenaline, and personal growth. As a 15-year-old swimmer representing Canada, I was thrilled to be competing on an international stage for the first time. Making it to the finals in several races was a huge accomplishment, but the experience offered so much more than just medals.
One of the most incredible aspects of the Games was the opportunity to connect with Jewish athletes from around the world. I made friendships that transcended borders and cultures, bonding over shared passions and experiences. Some of these connections have blossomed into lifelong friendships, reminding me of the power of sport to unite people.
The Maccabiah Games also allowed me to deepen my bond with my Canadian teammates. We trained together, competed together, and celebrated together, forging a sense of camaraderie that will always hold a special place in my heart.
Competing at the Maccabiah Games taught me valuable lessons about perseverance, teamwork, and the importance of embracing diverse perspectives. It was an experience that shaped me as an athlete and as a person, and I am grateful for the memories and friendships that I made along the way.
